Minutes
Gua sha, is a traditional Chinese massage technique using a small massage tool originally buffalo horn (now mainly plastic) to apply pressure using a scraping technique to problematic areas on the body.
Common areas are the back, shoulders and thighs, but can also be used on the head and face.
For the body, pressure is increased dramatically to work out tough tension, whilst on the the face mainly for cosmetic procedures where jade tools are used providing cooling effects and lifting muscles.
On the body area similar to cupping, this action will leave you with light bruising and often appears as purple or red spots, the face is unaffected due to the difference in pressure, this will usually dissipate after a few days.
This style of treatment usually has a site specific approach for the duration of the treatment session.
