Rehabilitation Services

Based in the North West, our clinic is within Total Fitness Aintree, which offers our clients on site Gym and Aquatic Rehabilitation as well as our clinic facilities. Open to both Members and Non-Members, our centre offers a Café with free WiFi and ample secure free parking.

We specialise in the careful maintenance and rehabilitation of anyone suffering from an ailment, injury or condition. From initial assessment we create your personalised treatment path, our therapists utilise a range of treatments and programs to gain you the fastest possible return to health and functionality or competition.

Pre & Post Event

Pre and Post Event massages are used in conjunction with home treatments to stave off injury or as Prehabilitation phases for an athlete during training or competition.

Pre-Event Massage Treatment sessions incorporate a lot of warming and stretches of the muscles that are going to be used during the sporting event shortly after the massage session, the focus is on prepping the muscles and joints for the rigours of what the athlete will undertake during training or competition. Treatments are usually done hours prior to a game or event to prolong maintenance phases and proper physiological care and to help reduce the probability of injuries.

Post Event Style Massage are more of a Drainage and Mobilising treatment, which focuses on repair and anti-inflammatory rehabilitation techniques, stretching and joint mobilisations are performed to rid fatigued muscles of built up lactic acid, nitrogen and any inflammation, plus relaxing any tension build-up from overuse or to get a jump on rehabilitating any acute injuries which may have arisen.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a deep tissue massage that focuses on specific areas associated with frequently trained or stressed movements usually associated with sports or high physical work.

Sports Massages usually incorporate techniques that apply ranges of pressure from medium to very heavy onto soft and connective tissue that can induce local acute pain where results aim to reduce tension and spasm associated with injuries and certain conditions that reduce movement, strength and stability in normal functional ranges of motion.

Treatments usually focus on specific areas for the entire treatment session and Therapists look at everything associated from exercise, posture, lifestyle and mechanism of injury to alleviate the problems that are affecting the clients equilibrium and health.

Injury Diagnosis (Phase 1)

The initial phase of recovery starts with finding out what exactly is wrong with the body, our Injury Diagnosis assessments work to identify the cause of an injury or condition. This is achieved by completing a range of testing to investigate the root cause of your pain, immobility or stress within joints, muscles or nerves.

Testing is usually completed in clinic but we can also utilise the gym space and equipment to replicate the possible cause of the injury in advanced controlled testing conditions

Once assessed the results will point the therapist to advise the best path of treatment for you, whether that is clinic, gym or aquatic rehabilitation in the second phase of your rehabilitation journey.

On rare occasions our assessments result in the need for us to refer you to your GP or other specialists for further investigation or treatment options.

Injury Rehabilitation (2)

When Injuries happen or develop over time our highly qualified and experienced team are equipped to treat and rehabilitate you back to full health whether it’s for general lifestyle, work or to meet athletic competition. Our core belief is that the client holds the full potential to heal themselves, so we guide and educate you throughout the process with the understanding that body health is for life not just to fix a current injury. We implement a variety of Methods and Techniques to rehabilitate clients back to full health, as it is rarely a one size fits all approach as many health providers would have you believe.

Injury Management (Phase 3)

Injury Management is a plan to work on maintaining pain free and increased mobility to keep at bay any trauma or chronic injuries you have suffered. We refer to this as a third phase moving on from short term injury rehabilitation, this phase is long term injury management.

We work with you to create an effective treatment plan with the aim to resolve acute or chronic injuries long term.

Each client’s injury diagnosis is totally unique to you and your lifestyle. Therefore, an individualised treatment plan is critical in allowing you to return to full fitness as soon as possible.

Each bespoke treatment plan will incorporate a variety of different techniques, commonly including a combination of massage, stretching and strengthening sessions.

Our aim is to not only resolve the problem but to work on prevention to reduce the risk of re-injury in the future. Working with the client to strengthen surrounding structures, maintain joint mobility and educate the clients to recognise the risk factors for injuries we can maintain their health and fitness and allows them to reach their goals.

Gym Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation can be as easily achieved by relearning how the body functions and how basic and general movement can be used to realign posture, gait and functional movements. We do this by addressing the clinic based treatments in collaboration with floor, functional, stretching and machine based exercises based in form and client education. Rehabilitation Programs are designed, monitored and evolved to meet the changing state of the healing injury.

Aquatic Rehabilitation

Some Injuries or health conditions require non-weight bearing water based rehabilitation programs to be designed and implemented, we can do this on site here in Aintree as we have full pool and hydrotherapy facilities including heat treatment areas. Functional movements are broken down and learned slowly to gain muscle strength, joint mobility, neurological reaction and proprioception confidence ready to take the next steps of partial and full weight bearing activity.

Posture & Gait Analysis

Posture Analysis sessions involves detecting areas of weakness in your sitting or standing posture, identifying what is causing the problem and creating a postural re-education plan. There are many benefits to improving your posture which include pain reduction, less muscle tension, decreases the wear and tear on joint surfaces and improves self-confidence.

Gait Analysis sessions identify abnormalities in your gait when at a walk, jog or run. Once the cause of the abnormalities are discovered alterations to your gait can be made. Analysis of gait is beneficial everyone from distance runners to people with restricted mobility. An efficient gait will reduce stress in muscles and joints, improve muscle fatigue and decrease the risk of injury.

Our Workflow…

We take clients through assessments to diagnose what the condition or injury may be.
The next step is designing and implementing a Treatment Path, a prescription of sessions of either; Massage, Stretching, Aquatic or Gym Rehabilitation Plans, to get the client back to a fitter more mobile and healthier place.

What you need to provide…

We will need to do a Physical Readiness Activity Questionnaire, within this we may need the following:

  • GP Referral Notes
  • X-Ray or MRI results and images
  • Medication Lists
